Happy Valentines Day

I was not in England this Valentines - I spent it in Chicago eating tasty food with my new friends and missing certain people a lot. So I made this card to send to my valentine. I did not want to post this on here till I was sure they'd seen it - so sorry about the delay.

I used a selection of Prismacolour pens, my Pentel brush pen and a couple of fine liners - my new favourite pen is my orange Sakura fine liner.

Of course no card is complete without a Spock.  What you can't see from these pictures are that the pattern carries on to the back of the card and the envelope says "You've Got Mail" which is a reference to one of 'our' movies.

Projects abound

Remember that mask?  A few weeks ago I papier mache'd it.  It shrunk lots so Ryan agreed to model it for me.  I am not sure what it will finally look like when I paint it but I am very excited about the great photo shoot we will be using it for.

Any ideas for the colour scheme of this foxy friend?

Post from America

So following on from my last post - here is some more mail.  This is a postcard I created for my good friend Wai Wai and is a loose representation of the Chicago skyline. The little red plane is Porco Rosso - because he loves to visit the Americas.

I bought a pack of blank postcards and I am looking forward to sending them to my loved ones back home!

Project in progress

In America they say progress differently.  It's odd. But if you had asked me this time last year if I would be sat on a sofa in Chicago stuffing Twinkies in my mouth and drinking lemonade (it's different here...no bubbles...) out of a dinosaur shaped sippy cup I would have told you to bugger off.

So what does progress look like?  Progress looks like the cardboard skeleton of a mask.  Sarah took some pictures of me hacking away at the cardboard armed with left-handed (I am right-handed) scissors and a roll of sticky tape.  It was just like Blue Peter.

This mask? It's going to be AMAZING!

Chicago Zine Fest 2012

If you're in Chicago for March 9th-10th then come and say hello. I'll be at table C13 and will have work from the lovely Wai Wai Pang and Ed Cheverton.  You know you want to!

A beautiful hand-made gift

So I turned 22 today and just had to share the incredible package that was waiting for me in the post room. The incredibly talented Wai Wai Pang and Edward Cheverton put it together.  I love them.

It included that calendar I was nagging you to buy (go buy it), some handmade comics, letters, a card, a selection of super sweet little gifts, an insane jazz CD that Ed created and a whole tonne of confetti.  Oh and finger puppets.  If I've forgotten anything then I am sorry - but it was so wonderful I took pictures of it all.

Happy Birthday to me,

Ladies Night!

I am really excited to share this little project I am working on.  I spoke to the manager, the lovely Matt, of Graham Crackers Loop store and asked if they had any sort of ladies night coming up. When he answered no and that it was something they would be interested in I knew straight away that it was something I had to get involved in.

And here it is!

This pretty little poster was designed by the lovely Edward Cheverton and I am so thrilled with it.

There is going to be cupcakes, conversation and comics!  A perfect environment for hardcore comic book fans or people just interested in trying something new.

Hopefully the night will go without a hitch.
See you there?
